Did you ever do it?

When I first started paper crafting, I admit I did go a little paper-crazy. I would walk down the aisles in my local Michaels or Jo-ann and spend hours staring and flipping through all glorious paper on display. I tried to make perfect paper combinations in my head - which colours would go well together, did I have the accents to go with those combinations etc. I would fall in love with all kinds of paper, buy it, get it home and then again, spend hours just staring at their beauty. I wonder if anyone else does this too - just sitting with the papers in their hand and dreaming :)

Seriously, as I write this, I feel a little silly. But I still love going to the stores and seeing what new stuff they have. I still haven't ventured in to online buying for paper. I am a little skeptical. I like to touch the paper and see the colors before I buy. Even then, I have problems working with some colors - one of them being navy blue. I never know how to work that out. I love the color. I love all the different papers I have in my stash with great designs in  that color but when I take them out, I never feel satisfied with the colour combos I create. Still, here is my attempt........once again to make the color work, though I am not too happy with the result.

I am submitting this card for two challenges - the card patterns sketch and the shabby tea room challenge

The one I love

I made this card a few weeks ago and immediately fell in love with it. Must be about the color combination. The vibrant red with the staid brown and the cream that lets everything else shine....

The papers are from the DCWV Christmas combo packet. The Fleur de Lis Squares nestabilities from Spellbinders is my most absolute favorite of all time. It looks so elegant and changes an ordinary card in to a treasure. The flower in the middle is just two flowers in beige and brown stacked.
I sent this card to my sister and she absolutely loved it.
And I still have the picture to admire :)
Of course, I forgot to mention that it is a tri fold shutter card, very easy to make with absolutely stunning effects. If you do not have a template, just google it and a number of great people have free template on their websites.

A new beginning

Today, I posted my first card for a challenge - the Mojo Monday. I have been making cards for a number of years and of course, using the sketches by the DT as my inspiration. However, the thought of finishing them on time, taking perfect picture on a perfectly nice, sunny day and then downloading the photo on my computer and uploading it to the blog site has just remained....well a thought... Too lazy, I guess
But I guess things have to change sometime and hopefully, I can sustain that change for a long time. So here is the card I submitted for the challenge.

Well, I did mention, taking the perfect picture was a problem :)
