Summertime...

So summertime is finally here....
And man, did it come with a bang! three days of over 95 temperature, then strong thunderstorm followed by a huge drop in temperature. Well, all that did combine to give me the cold, the sore throat and the flu...If there is one reason that I hate summer, it is this. To have a cold during summer is horrible, I miss out on all the wonderful ice creams, sipping the sodas while sitting in the sun and of course, going to the bbq. After all, who wants to sit next to someone coughing every five minutes. But things are looking up, I feel better and I can soon be back to my normal self.
In the meanwhile,  did manage to make this cute summertime card

I love this image - partly because of the lovely hair. How long and beautiful and tied up so nicely in pony tails. Little girls are so much fun.

The inside of the card is lined with the same paper from DCWV paperstack "Spring tie" I think. Will check on that and correct it soon if not correct.
I created the card using the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge

It's a lot of card.....

I started and finished the Father's day card last friday, which in itself is great achievement for me 'cos I tend to work on a card for at least two if not three days. Start the card, walk away, come back, work some more, don't like it, walk away, come back.....and so on and so forth. So to have made this card in one straight sitting ( though I confess I did take a break mid way), is an achievement. And the card is multi-layered, so it's fun to open and discover. And here it goes

Open it up and you see

Open that up and

The back side of the both the front panels are lines with an old postcard from DCWV's paper stack. This is where both the children get to write their messages, one on either side.

Meanwhile, open the front panel and you see on top
and directly under it, which sadly is also the last layer

Another view which perhaps shows the fold in a better way

Loved making this card and putting all the folds together. The pictures are colored with the Spectrum markers. The papers are from K&Company and DCWmatstacks

Just because.....

Just because.......I love this sentiment and the stamped image goes perfectly with that. Look at that attitude. Reminds me of my daughter when she was a toddler - the cutest girl ever with an adorable attitude :)And now that she is all grown up, I miss the "hmph...don't mess with me" stance. Well, truth be told, it does show up sometimes - along with the folded arms and pout and the walk up the stairs to her room....Children are sooooo precious :)

For this card, I used the sketch provided at the Sugar Bowl Challenge

The theme was shades of violet and the card that I came up with is

I used the star punch to edge around the card. The papers are all from DCWV card stock mats. I took the most time in cutting the flower strip behind the stamped image. The stamped image is colroed with markers.
Over at the 2sisters challenge blog, the theme this week was inside / out. So here is the inside of my card.

I was so inspired I even worked on the back :)

I am quite happy with how this card turned out. Submitting it for the following challenges
